Zaatari welcoming members of Nigerian Economic Delegation
On July 29, 2008, Mr. Zaatari and members of the CCIAS board received an economic Nigerian delegation headed by Mr. Hameed Opeloyeru the Nigerian Ambassador in Beirut. Mr. Zaatari presented to the delegation an overview of the investment opportunities in South Lebanon and the development projects implemented in collaboration with the chamber for the benefit of the business community. The delegation’s visit to the chamber was part of a scheduled program.
Arab- German Economic Forum- June 2008
The Arab- German chamber of Commerce and Industry (Ghorfa) organized the Arab – German Economic Forum in Berlin. This event was attended by Presidents and members of Arab and regional economic organizations. CCIAS was presented by Mr. Mohamad Zaatari. During the two day sessions versatile subjects pertaining to investment environment and Arab- German Economic relations were discussed.
Training Module on GMP/GHP in Saida
The MACLE Project organized a training module on GMP/GHP on 27 March 2008 at the Chamber of Commerce of Saida, where 20 persons from food industries in Saida and the south region participated. The training were presented in Arabic in order to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and interaction among the participants especially that the project invited the labors of the factories and not only the top management. The participants benefited from the training, and this was reflected in their evaluation and they also liked the presenting and the interactive style of the Trainer Dr. Toufic Rizk, MACLE National Consultant
The Ambassador of Nigeria at the CCIAS
The Ambassador of Nigeria to Lebanon, Mr. Antony Bousah visited CCIAS on Tuesday 08/01/2008. Mr. Bousah was welcomed by President Zaatari, in the presence of the vice presidents, Mr. Mohamad Saleh and Mr. Mounir Bsat, Chambers treasurer, Mr. Kassem Khalife and the president of Saida Merchant's association Mr. Ali Charif. During the meeting the participants discussed the current economic relations between Lebanon and Nigeria as well as potential investments existing in both countries. Opinions were exchanged regarding best practices for closer cooperation between the chamber and the Embassy to render better common services for businessmen and investors. In his brief welcome statement, CCIAS president expressed his optimism for continued and even closer collaboration and coordination between the two parties in all areas, which will contribute to the strengthening of bilateral commercial relationships and to the development of cooperation horizons between businessmen and investors of the two countries. The Ambassador, on his part, after referring to the growth regarding bilateral economic transactions between the two countries, he emphasized the role of Lebanese expatriates in his country.
Trade delegation from CCIAS visits Valencia Chamber
On 10 December a delegation that consists of representatives of agricultural companies from South Lebanon visited Valencia Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event was organized within the framework of the signed agreement of cooperation between the two chambers, which aims to develop avenues of economic collaboration between their business communities. Delegation members had the opportunity to have meetings with their Valencia counterparts.
